All relationships come with their trials and tribulations. All take hard work and dedication, give and take from both sides in order to be successful. Every relationship has its unique quirks and intricacies, circumstances and compromises. Whether you are together every day or live in different cities, or even different countries, relationships are always worth it.

A few years ago I had a conversation with my cousin Stephen. We were catching up over lunch. He said something to me that was initially very offensive, and still sticks with me years later: "You are a really nice person, but it comes off very fake." Taken aback, I asked him to explain more. He shared that my perma-smile and optimistic attitude just didn’t feel genuine. He didn’t connect with my attitude.

Deep inside we’re all lost, our souls hungry for places that still have some archetype of a wonder we’re eagerly searching. That’s why we’ve put together this short list of destinations where you can find your soul food and reconnect with your inner self again.

But I did take notice when, as we were lining up in the aisle to deplane, one of the boys smiled at me and handed me a folded up napkin. In truth, I almost tossed it away without unfolding it. But as I strode towards the exit, I indulged my curiosity. And found myself speechless.

In the 21st century, we use the internet for almost anything; from planning and dealing with day-to-day activities to finding answers to questions we would otherwise not have known. But just how important is our relationship with the internet?

The debate is settled, and science has spoken: happiness is a skill that you can learn and cultivate. But what does this mean, and how can these principles be applied to you, and your classroom? You might be thinking skills all sound lovely, but are they really practical?

It occurred to me after this conversation that I’ve been building my own cathedral; engaged and working with purpose toward the bigger picture for a long time, with each and every brick a necessary part of something significant.

I now see my life with only physical limitations. I can write in bed even if it’s a paragraph at a time. I want to succeed, but this time I will do it. No more being scared of the future. Cancer is often the hardest thing people go through. But the way I see it, feeling negative with cancer will only make you feel worse.
